Strong Acids and Bases
Always a good idea to memorize the 7 Strong Acids and 8 Strong Bases that we use in chemistry classes.
The 7 Strong Acids
- Hydrochloric acid - HCl
- Hydrobromic acid - HBr
- Hydroiodic acid - HI
- Perchloric acid - HClO4
- Chloric acid - HClO3
- Sulfuric acid - H2SO4 (note only the first proton is strong)
- Nitric acid - HNO3
The 8 Strong Bases
- Lithium hydroxide - LiOH
- Sodium hydroxide - NaOH
- Potassium hydroxide - KOH
- Rubidium hydroxide - RbOH
- Cesium hydroxide - CsOH
- Calcium hydroxide - Ca(OH)2
- Strontium hydroxide - Sr(OH)2
- Barium hydroxide - Ba(OH)2
